The Train Of His Robe

Isaiah 6

 …I saw the Lord seated on a throne, high and exalted, and the train of his robe filled the temple. 2 Above him were seraphs, each with six wings: With two wings they covered their faces, with two they covered their feet, and with two they were flying. 3 And they were calling to one another:
       “Holy, holy, holy is the LORD Almighty;
       the whole earth is full of his glory.”

“The train of his robe fills the temple with glory”.

 In Old Testament times when a king won a battle over another, he went in and took the “spoils” of the land (all the earthly possessions of value) and carried them to his kingdom.  What some might not know is that the king also asked for part of the defeated king’s robe to be cut off, given to him and sewn onto his as a symbol of his greatness.  That he had defeated another king and was victorious.  The longer the robe of the king, the more battles he had won and the more victorious he stood among his people.

 In Isaiah 6, it says the train of his (The Lord’s) robe filled the temple.  Just the train of the Lord filled the temple.  God almighty is the one true victor.  He has already won every battle there is to face and the train of his robe is long enough that just the train fills the temple.

 The temple was the place in Old Testament times where the priests took the sins of the people before the Lord in the form of a sacrifice and the people were then made clean.  The temple was the dwelling place of God on earth.

 This has not changed.  When Jesus Christ came, died on the cross and was raised from the dead- he made us the new temple.  He ascended into heaven and sent his holy spirit to dwell in us.  We now are the holy temple of the most high God.  At the point of salvation, (Rom 10:9-10) we were made clean and our sins forgiven.  Our sacrifice is our life given over to Jesus.

 Now listen to this, we are now the temples of God, the indwelling of the holy one resides in us.  The train of his robe fills the temple.  Through the blood of the lamb, we are covered with the train of His robe- which means we are walking in victory every day.  The greatness of the Lord and his victory covers us, draped over us like a robe.

 This is also a place where we can come, just as a little frightened child hides behind the legs of a mother, we can come and hide in the shadow of the robe of the almighty victor.  He stands victorious over all things.  He has won and stands in great wonder.  The battles we face are hemmed onto his garment in victory, for he has already defeated ALL of our enemies.

 Today, Jesus, we come before you and say “Holy, holy, holy is the LORD Almighty;  the whole earth is full of his glory.”As we come to you we thank you for the great victory we stand in as the temples of the Holy God.  We thank you that the train of your robe fills us with glory.  Let this revelation fill us with glory.  We are covered by the mighty robe of the Lord and when adversities come our way, please remind us that we are covered by the victorious train of your robe and that you have already sewn the adversity into victory as a sign onto your robe.  We praise you for your great victories you have already won for us.  Help us to see life for what it really is and walk in victory today.
